Are you interested in learning about Ngāpuhi understandings and perspectives on He Wakaputanga and Te Tiriti?
Join this in-person group to explore Ngāpuhi Speaks, the report commissioned by Kuia and Kaumatua of Ngāpuhi Nui Tonu.
"Some may see Ngāpuhi Speaks as just a Māori or Ngāpuhi 'perspective' on Te Tiriti o Waitangi. However it is more than that. It is a correction of a history that for too long has been misremembered or not known by too many Pākehā. It should be essential reading for everyone in this country."
- Moana Jackson, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Porou; constitutional lawyer & academic
Process of Sessions:
We will have three in-person sessions to explore Part A of this report. The first session is 2 hours, including time for whakawhanaungatanga (getting to know one another); the remaining 2 sessions are 1 ½ hours each.
Sections of the report will be allocated to read ahead of each session, so participants need to access a copy of the report before the first session. Hard copies of the report can be purchased from Network Waitangi Whangārei for $30, or you can download a PDF for $20.
A supportive space will be created for participants to share their responses to the report, and learn together.
Prerequisites and requirements:
To take part, participants need to have completed an Introduction to Te Tiriti o Waitangi workshop or similar. Participants are also expected to commit to all three sessions.
Cost: $15 - $40 (pay what you can afford) + Report ($30 hard copy / $20 PDF)
Group size: Limited to a minimum of 6 and maximum of 14 participants
Facilitator: Agnes Hermans, Network Waitangi Whangārei
